What does it cover anyway?

The typical policy contains several categories of  coverage, each with its own limit.  Most coverages are based on a percentage of the coverage on your house.

A. Dwelling                    100% of the cost to rebuild
                                        (exclude the value of land.
It's not what the real estate
guy said he could get you,                                          from that anxious buyer)

B. Other Structures       10% Sheds, garages and
                                        the dog house. You know,
                                        your husband's special
                                        place from time to time.

C. Personal Property    70% All your stuff with
                                        some limitations on certain
                                        items, like jewelry and
                                        that secret Elvis Collection.

D. Loss of Use               20% The cost to rent
                                         someplace so you don't
have to move in with the
                                         in-laws while we fix your
                                         house.

E. Personal Liability       $300,000 At least! so
                                          when your dog bites the
                                          mailman, you won't be in
                                          the dog house.

F. Medical Payments      $1,000 This will pay for
                                           the boo-boo when the
                                           neighbor's brat gets hurt
                                           on your  property.   "Hey
I' ll pay the doctor bill,
                                           just don't sue me"
